How to Get the Most Out of Online Therapy

Ready to start with online therapy? Here are a couple of ways to get the most out of your experience:

  • Set up away from your workspace (aka, not your desk).

  • Keep distractions to a minimum by closing open tabs on your computer, turning off phone notifications, and asking and roommates/family members for quiet time. 

  • Give yourself a minute or two before and after sessions to get ready for the appointment, taking a few breaths and noticing how you're feeling rather than jumping from work/tasks to a session. 

  • Talk with your therapist about how online therapy is going. Good or bad, these can be incredibly beneficial for your work together. 

  • Check your equipment before your session! Make sure you have a strong internet connection and audio/video is turned on.
